Ceropegia sp. 'Cambodia'

syn. -

distribution:

Cambodia: Phnom Sruoch District / Kampong Speu Province

This very interesting form was found by François Sockhom in the year 2009 in Cambodia, a country from where, up to then, as far as I know, no species from that genus was known.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The plant grows in a rather exceptional habitat, a kind of plateau, situated at about 700 m above sea level with evergreen forest, but also with stands of pines and even real savannah-like landscapes.
The habitat is very wet, partly swamp-like (populations of the pitcherplant species Nepenthes smilesii can be found here) and the temperatures can somethimes fall below the freezing point at night.
(pers. Comm. François Sockhom)
The Cambodian plant reminds on Ceropegia sootepensis and may be identical with it.
